2019/05/08

To achieve business process restructuring, we will construct a digital foundation for the corporate management functions that underpin the Group management foundation, as well as for the value chain encompassing research and development, procurement and logistics, manufacturing, and sales and service.

Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; Chairman and CEO: Hisashi Ietsugu) is promoting globally a business process restructuring through digitalization, in an effort to reinforce its corporate foundations and create new value. To achieve business process restructuring, we will construct a digital foundation for the corporate management functions that underpin the Group management foundation, as well as for the value chain encompassing research and development, procurement and logistics, manufacturing, and sales and service.

The onward march of digital technologies, as exemplified by the Internet of Things (IoT), is making it possible to accumulate a wide variety of a host of data. Recently, this massive amount of accumulated data is being analyzed using artificial intelligence (AI), and robotic process automation is rapidly being used to automate standardized operations. This use of these new technologies to digitalize business processes is expected to contribute significantly to decision-making in corporate management, productivity increases in operations, and the generation of value such as through the creation of new services.

To promote globally a business process restructuring in the aim of reinforcing its corporate foundations and creating new value, Sysmex is putting in place a next-generation core system and renovating its digital basis. In addition to centering on the accounting and finance, with this business process restructuring through digitalization Sysmex is targeting a wide range of process reforms spanning research and development, procurement and logistics, manufacturing, sales and service, and human resource management. To implement business process restructuring measures, the Company is partnering with SAP Japan Co., Ltd. (HQ: Tokyo, Japan; President: Yuzuru Fukuda) and EY Advisory & Consulting Co., Ltd. (HQ: Tokyo, Japan; President: Masahiko Tsukahara), making practical use of their solutions and knowhow to promote effectiveness.

Through these initiatives, Sysmex will reinforce its information security and other aspects of the corporate infrastructure and aims to understand the status of management across the Group in real time, boost business efficiency by linking product information consistently across the value chain, shorten the product supply lead time, reduce raw materials expenses and days in inventory turnover, and otherwise enhance productivity through the optimization of operations. Furthermore, by linking information for individual processes in the value chain we seek to efficiently develop and launch new products and services. We will also provide added value through links between the digital basis and the Caresphere™ network solution to contribute to the medical economy by supporting efficient operations at hospitals and laboratories.

By aiming to create new diagnostic value through the restructuring of business processes through digitalization, Sysmex will contribute to the development of healthcare and the healthy lives of people.
